Did you know that Number 4 and Number 8 are special in China?
Number 4:
- Chinese people think number 4 is bad luck.
- In Chinese, the word for number 4 is “Si” (which is pronounced like the 6th letter in Amharic alphabet se, su, see, sa, say, si, so).
- This word sounds like the Chinese word for “death. “
- So whenever you are interacting with Chinese people, do not give them things that have number 4. Do not put them on the 4th floor of a hotel room, for example.
Number 8:
- Chinese people think number 8 is good luck.
- There are many reasons why number 8 is lucky. For example, it is symmetrical, which the Chinese find attractive.
- That is why the Beijing Olympics started on the date 08/08/08 (August 8th, 2008).
- If you are doing business with Chinese people, try to include number 8 if you can.

- ይህ ደግሞ “ሞት” ለማለት ከሚጠቀሙበት ቃል ጋራ ይመሳሰላል።
- ከቻይናውያን ጋር ሲሆኑ “4” ቁጥር ጎልቶ የሚታይበት ቦታ ላይ አያስቀምጧቸው። ለምሳሌ ሆቴል ሲያዝላቸው 4ኛ ፎቅ ላይ ባይሆኑ ይመረጣል።
8 ቁጥር
